VALDA I. BLENMAN, Vaughan Family Lawyer, Litigator, & Arbitrator

Valda Blenman was called to the Bar in Barbados in 1979 and to the Ontario Bar in 1993. Prior to joining Bortolussi Family Law in 2008, she spent 14 years at a well-respected Family Law firm in Toronto. Her well-established reputation for client service includes a specialized talent for strategic planning and for generating creative options to assist clients in resolving their Family Law disputes.

Throughout her legal career she has negotiated and achieved settlements on behalf of her clients, and has drafted and negotiated separation agreements, marriage contracts and cohabitation agreements. She represents parties on the breakdown of marriages, common law relationships and same-sex relationships.

Valda Blenman is a Family Law Arbitrator and offers Family Arbitration to parties who wish to have their family issues adjudicated outside of the public court system.

Valda has appeared at all levels of court in Ontario, including the Superior Court of Justice and the Court of Appeal, and she has appeared as co-counsel before the Supreme Court of Canada.

After graduating from the University of the West Indies with a Bachelor of Laws Degree, Valda received her equivalency to the Canadian Bachelor of Laws Degree in 1992. She also holds a Bachelor Degree in Political Science from McMaster University. Valda was called to the Bar in both Barbados, where she served as Vice-President of the Bar Association, and in the Commonwealth of Dominica.
